Senior Companion Program

R.S.V.P.

Parents Apart: A court approved seminar for divorcing parents. In this two-session program we provide an overview of children's reaction to divorce, teach parents skills that help children cope and illustrate common pitfalls to avoid and reduce conflict. A forum for questions is held at the conclusion; written resources and a handbook are included.

Personal Growth: This on going long term group will focus on various topics that enhance relationship skills, build positive self esteem and develop coping abilities.

Parenting for Fathers: An open education and support group for men who desire a better relationship with their children. The group allows men to explore the effectiveness of their parenting, learn new skills that cultivate healthy child development and build connections with other family members.

Changing Times: A six-week group that offers children the opportunity to discuss their feelings about their parents' divorce. They also hear other children's responses, have the opportunity to discuss the losses and changes in their lives, develop alternative coping strategies and participate in self-esteem building and team building activities. An intake is necessary prior to the start of the group.

Caregivers Support Group: A support group for those who care for older individuals. This group address issues around frustration, anger, control and guilt, loss of independence, setting priorities for yourself, learning new ways to cope and learning how and where to get the help you need. There is no charge for this group, but pre-registration is required.

Women's Group: A group designed to assist women striving to improve their lives and develop positive relationships. The group's focuses include strategies to enhance self-esteem, increase assertiveness, develop positive relationships and achieve personal goals.

Smoking Cessation: A comprehensive hypnotherapy smoking cessation group program. In this four-session program participants will receive an overview of the program, learn to identify unhealthy behavior patterns, relapse prevention techniques and a hypnotherapy session aimed at re-enforcing the new "non-smoker" identity.

ADHD Testing: This two-session assessment includes a well-conducted clinical interview with a child's parents, gathering of information from the child's teacher(s) and an objective computer test for children 6 years old and older. Families will be provided with comprehensive information about ADHD and its treatment.
